Cumberland Hotel Bournemouth Wedding Photography – CJ and Anna – Sneak peek

Today saw me at the Cumberland Hotel Bournemouth for some wedding photography for CJ and Anna. I was working with Tim today as his second shooter. I love working this way as I get lots of freedom to shoot some really awesome wedding photography and get some great images for CJ and Anna.
I arrived shortly before the wedding ceremony to meet CJ and his best men (he had 2). We did a few fun shots (see later) and then CJ got on with meeting the registrars to go through the formal details confirming his name. The registrars in Bournemouth are awesome, all so relaxed and let us get on with our job of capturing great memories for couples rather than have lots of different rules. It’s really appreciated, not only by myself but by the couples who’s weddings I photograph and help/assist with too.

Anyway back to the wedding. This was the first wedding ceremony I’ve captured at the Cumberland Hotel, though I’ve photographed plenty of others such as Nathan and Katrina, and Leonie and Marc‘s.

After the ceremony the guests mingled in the Cumberlands hotels art deco lounges whilst I captured some fun candid moments including a cool cinefilm camcorder (Canon) being used by one of the guests to get some authentic video footage. We then went to Bournemouth Pier to get some images down there and back to the hotel for the speeches and wedding breakfast. We were lucky with the weather, which despite being november had glorious sunshine and Tim and myself captured some awesome images between us.

The speeches were very good with a special mention going to the double act of the best men. Some truly funny moments guys. Well done!

And without further ado – here are some previews from the wedding. Green House Hotel Website and PR Photography

Green House Hotel Website and PR Photography

At the recommendation of the Green House Hotel we undertook a photoshoot with aim of getting some great images for the website. The team consisted of two other amazing photographers called Andy Rapkins and Kirstie Blake. A model had been arranged (thanks andy) and a last minute hiccup meant a change of Make up artist, but, other than that everything went really well! We covered the whole hotel and also did details of a room setup for the wedding breakfast, the downstairs ready for a wedding breakfast too and some of the bedrooms and the like. A truly amazing place. I can heartily recommend this as a wedding venue.

Thornbury Castle Gloucestershire

Thornbury Castle Gloucestershire

Thornbury Castle in Gloucestershire is a beautiful Wedding and Event venue. The grounds are spectacular and the staff are first class. Thornbury Castle is set in South Gloucestershire near Thornbury. It is easy to access from the M5 and the M4 and has 27 bedrooms for you and your guests with plenty of accommodation nearby if you are having a bigger event. It has a beautiful Hall and many beautiful bedrooms fit for a King. Henry VIII stayed here with his wife Anne Boleyn, but don’t let that dissuade you. There is plenty of onsite parking for your wedding guests and every need is catered for. Thornbury Castle staff know a thing or two about organising a wedding. Speak to Faye if you’re thinking of having your wedding here and she’ll sort you out.

Dorset Wedding Photographer – HD Video and Fusion

Dorset Wedding Photographer – HD Video and Fusion

I’ve been photographing weddings in Dorset for many years now. I remember having a MiniDV camcorder many years ago now, and spending many hours editing video in front of Adobe Premiere. This was all purely for personal and family projects. So when I started photographing weddings I naturally starting doing slideshows set to music, then as Blu-Ray became available I also added HD slideshows as an option to my clients. Then Canon brought out the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. This was a groundbreaking camera in many ways. It was the first digital SLR to enable full HD video to be captured by a SLR. Of course compact digital cameras had allowed it long before this. The real difference was in the quality. Suddenly Film quality was available rather than the home movie quality of compacts.

It was with this Camera that I started adding a bit of video to my work. It started off with filming the first dance to add into the slideshow. Then Slowly it expanded into filming the ceremony, and the speeches. For this it was essential to get 2 (at least) different viewpoints so a second camera was added. A canon 550D – again full HD with awesome quality. Then came a couple of advancements that made this ready for more serious work. Namely a GoPro Hero HD2, this little camera is a small little camera that you can put anywhere. Coupled with a wifi-bacpac you can view, stream video and control the camera all over wifi. Being so small you can put it in locations you’d never be able to put a full size camera. The footage is still great though! I also added a Sony NEX-VG20 this is a APS-C sized camera in a proper camcorder body giving you the quality of a dSLR and the controls of a camcorder. Simply brilliant.

It’s this combination of skills, technology and creativity that have enabled me to offer a bespoke HD video package to my clients.

Here’s an image of me streaming some video via the GoPro Hero HD2 and wifi-bacpac in the studio as an example.

Rivervale Barn, Yately, Hampshire

Rivervale Barn, Yately, Hampshire

Rivervale Barn is in Yately and is set in a tiny village in the north of Hampshire. It is ideal for large or small weddings. I’ve worked here before and the staff are super efficient and helpful. I can report first hand that the food is delicious. There are many hotels nearby for guests and a cottage onsite for the bride and groom to stay at. There dining barn can accommodate up to 150 guests meaning that you can have a big wedding here if you would like. Rivervale barn is easily accessible from the M3 and M25, being about 1 hour from london so road access is great.

Here’s a photograph of the dining barn at Rivervale barn setup for a wedding breakfast.
