Athelhampton House Wedding Photographer – Dorset – Sue and John – Sneak Peek

Athelhampton House Wedding Photographer – A sneak peek from today.

Todays wedding was a brilliant one that ended up at Athelhampton House Dorset. We started in Tolpuddle, Dorset for the bridal preparations then we travelled to the church in Puddletown for the wedding ceremony. Finally we travelled to the splendid Athelhampton House in beautiful rural Dorset for the wedding reception. I feel honoured being a wedding photographer based in Dorset to be able to cover such great wedding venues.
The Staff at Athelhampton House were brilliant as always and John and Sue were brilliant throughout the day too. It was such a brilliant day and even a bit of a heat mist didn’t stop everyone having a brilliant day.

When we got to Athelhampton House there was a Scottish piper waiting to greet us! His bagpipe playing was outstanding.

The guests then had reception drinks whilst waiting for Sue and John to Arrive,  just as the sun came out! Perfect Timing!

After some candid photographs of the guests and everyone enjoying themselves then we photographed a few formal groups.

The grounds at Athelhampton House are brilliant and offer so many options for wedding photography – so we went on a mini tour of the grounds to get some bride and groom photographs.

Here’s one from the Athelhampton house gardens with John and Sue.

Happy Easter

Easter saw me up in Sheffield so see my parents and sisters (and cousins).
There was even still some snow left around in the peak districts which the kids loved!
Here’s some photos of easter morning and them having fun. A great excuse to use the D800 to capture some special family moments 🙂

Nikon D800 and Nikon D3S a comparison in the studio

Another geeky post I’m afraid guys 🙂 I popped down to Blandford Studio for this one.
And the model is yours truly so you might want to move along 🙂
I was curious how the D800 compared to the D3S in terms of image quality.. esp if I downsized the D800 images from their native 36 megapixels down to the same 12 megapixels as the d3s… the answer is a suprising one.. there is very little in it and the D800 images are quite amazing.. I think nikon had some special pixie dust…

See the sequences below… excuse some of the colour casts it was under a mix of fluoro lighting (power cycles) and tungsten lighting…. so realistic at least 🙂
As before I’m adding the JPGS to a dropbox folder give me a shout if you want to be added to it!

Nikon D800 more thoughts and sample images at high ISO

Happy Easter everyone.
I’ve been using the Nikon D800 alongside my Nikon D3S and Canon 1DS mark 3 for over a week now, so far i’m impressed with the D800, its performed brilliantly so far both on location and in the studio.

I’ve had a few people ask what the images are like at various ISO’s – so i took this sequence of images fro ISO800 up to HI-2.
All shot with the nikon 35mm f/2 lens @ f/5.6.

Below I’ve put the resized for web images.

I’ve also uploaded to dropbox and if you give me your email i can add you to the shared people list for the FULL SIZE jpgs.
Enjoy!
