Fun Vegan Wedding at Highcliffe Castle – AJ and Dan get married

I was at a great fun and alternative wedding this Saturday to photograph the wedding of Dan and AJ – 2 lovely people who are beautiful inside and out. I was assisting my good friend Tim Churchill so I was given the role of photographing the groom and doing some more fun candid and second shooting photos. It’s been a while since I’d photographed a vegan wedding, we were lucky enough to have all three courses and the food was awesome. The attention to detail and styling that went into this wedding was immense. From the gothic and woodland feel to the decorations in the evening reception room, to the spiderwebs on the wedding cake and the corpse-bridesque look to the centerpiece in the wedding breakfast room. Highcliffe castle is always a pleasure to photograph at as there is so much light in the main wedding ceremony room! The views and vista outside of course are also beautiful too! Highcliffe is close to the border of Hampshire, and until 1974 when the dorset and hampshire borders moved it was actually still in Hampshire. Can you tell I was reading some of the history?

After the Wedding – Photography in the Sea by West Bay

I’d known Olivia for many many years from doing many photoshoots with her on other projects, so it was great to catch up after her wedding to Iain in Vegas. We met up at the glorious West bay in dorset for some fun photos by the Sea. It was something I’ve wanted to shoot for a while – so this was a great photography shoot all in all! The waves were amazing and the weather was tropical as I’m sure you’ll agree the photos were amazing. Of course West Bay and bridport is the home of broadchurch too.

I had a real blast doing these and they were both such great sports too! If you fancy doing this after your wedding or before then let me know!

Supplier Spotlight : Wedding Caterers – Claret Catering at Knighton House

As a wedding photographer I’ve been lucky enough to have been to hundreds of weddings and seen lots of starters, canapés and main courses. Normally I try and get some photos of the food too, but, this isn’t always possible for many reasons. This last weekend I was fortunate enough to be invited along by my friends at Claret Catering at the glorious Knighton House near Blandford in Dorset. I was tasked with getting some behind the scenes images to show how much hard work goes on (hint: it’s a lot more than you’d think and the food is only a small part of it)

It was great to see behind the scenes at a wedding and see everything that goes into making sure the guests have enough to eat and drink. This isn’t only the wedding breakfast but also the Canapés and other refreshments. The logistics and thinking on your feet was great to be involved in too.

So next time you attend a wedding then spare a thought for the catering staff and the delivery of your food is a complex and well thought out process. I know next time I photograph a wedding I’ll have a new appreciation of it all!

Kirsty and James get married at Symondsbury Estate!

A great wedding weekend at Symondsbury Estate! It was my first time photographing a wedding here – but – hopefully not my last!
I’d met Kirsty on a bridal shoot we’d done for a bride magazine front cover so it was a pleasure to come along and get some lovely photos of the wedding on such a beautiful day and a gorgeous venue.

The day started at the Farm cottage on the Symondsbury estate, with blue skies and lush fields. Kirsty and all the girls were in good spirits and it was good to see Simon from Final Cut Films and Caroline from Amazing face hair and makeup, both great award winning wedding suppliers I’ve worked with many times before.

There were also some great bespoke bridesmaids dresses by Kimberly Stone design, with flowers from busy bee florists, with fab headpieces by Nancyandflo.

The folks at Symondsbury Estate weddings did a top job making sure the whole day ran really well, great food too and the whole place looked stunning!

Abi and Dave get married at the Royal Chase Hotel

Abi and Dave got married at a lovely church in Bourton in Dorset with the reception at the Royal Chase hotel in shaftesbury. Abi and Dave were both so amazing the whole day and were super welcoming. It was great to be part of their wedding day!

I started at Abi’s preparations seeing her getting ready before we went to the stunning church at Bourton. We had glorious weather which was brilliant for April. After a great service we then went to Shaftesbury for the reception at the Royal Chase hotel. I enjoy photographing weddings at the Royal Chase as the gardens are great and there is plenty of space inside too.

The wedding breakfast room looked brilliant too! My personal favourite was the huge tower of ferraro rocher! They really were spoiling us 🙂
