A fun packed day was had by all today at Matt and Jenny’s Sandbanks Hotel Wedding. I knew i’d have fun after an event filled sparking engagement shoot at durdle door. I wasn’t disappointed it was a blast and so much fun to photograph too! Some awesome guests.. delicious food and an awesome location. Seaside and beach weddings are amazing and the weather was kind to us too! Some crazy dancing later ensued and here’s some photos which I believe capture Matt and Jenny’s fun personalities.. we even got some paddling in. Luckily the sea was really warm so that was fine 🙂 🙂
Enjoy the photos and don’t get eaten on your honeymoon by sharks (always wanted to say that!)

Sony A6300 first impressions and thoughts using sigma 18-35/1.8 with adapters
Well today is new camera day once more. I’ve been enjoying using the A7 cameras for weddings and events recently and enjoy using aps-c bodies for the advantages they offer for reach and speed of operation. I was excited when I heard about the A6300, so when I had a call from my chums at the awesome castle cameras then I couldn’t wait to pop over and collect it. So whats it like? In a word great! I’ve made a short video about my first impressions which you can see below along with a few standard test shots(tm).

One of the reasons for me getting this camera is that I like a faster burst mode when shooting group shots so the 11fps of the a6300 is amazing for that. Better chance of eyes being open (probably). The 4K video is also great for video as is the light weight. Also one reason is that the autofocus is meant to be amazing. With my limited testing it does seem great. I have a Sigma 18-35/1.8 art lens on loan from Sigma and this is a must have lens for APS-C sized cameras IMO. Gives you sublime images, and even better dof control than a standard 2.8 zoom on FX bodies. The fact that sony haven’t got anything even at 2.8 in E mount for their APS-C cameras like the a6000 or a6300 is a gap and the sigma beats this nicely in so many ways. So it was the first lens I tried on it. Initial thoughts are good, and you can see in my video that it performs very well in general. There is a little bit of hunting at the wide end. I’m putting this down to the newness of the camera and the adapters being older. It maybe that the metabones ones can address this with updated firmware. For now I’m using the Commlite adapter (available here) which seems to work best with this sigma lens. Of course I am waiting for the sigma MC-11 EF to E mount adapter as I believe this will bring together Sigma’s fab lenses with the best AF available – I’m expecting it to be better than on a canon/nikon body with those 405 PDAF points. Can’t wait to see how that performs!

Conclusion : a6300 summary
So to summarise. So far a great camera. A few niggles that I will get used to. One rear dial and control wheel not the 2 dials and wheels of the a7-series, and no dedicated exposure compensation dial, so a little more awkward if you want to make those changes. Though I’ve reprogramed the top dial to be exposure compensation so it works very similarly now. The battery and memory card is in the same compartment which is different and it’s on the bottom. Not a big deal. just different. Overall i think i’m going to love this camera esp for shooting faster action with the availability of the faster fps and greater reach.

I’m going to give it a better workout at this weekends wedding and see how i get on using alongside the other a7 cameras. Stay tuned and I look forward to hearing your thoughts too.
Here’s a few samples of a brick wall and cats.. more exciting subjects to come 🙂
Also turns out it’s really hard to say a6300 on video 🙂

Rob and Carina’s Italian Villa Wedding – Sneak peek
What a wonderful day for Rob and Carina’s awesome wedding at the Italian Villa. As luck would happen I was along to photograph the day. And what a day it was. Lots of kids having fun, awesome wedding dress, awesome shoes. Amazing people and the amazing hospitality of the Italian Villa. The speeches were great. The food was fab as always. The Music thanks to Party Dexx was amazeballs too. The cold temperatures did nothing to cool the love between Carina and Rob, what a superb day!
I’m going to leave you with a photography of Rob and Carina at Harbour Point that looks out over the Sandbanks Peninsula and out to sea! What a great view to start married life with!
Congratulations MR AND MRS CRAIN! See you guys soon and thanks for having me along to photography your wedding!

As one of the recommended wedding photographers at the Italian Villa then I know the place very well. So if you’re getting married there then please get in touch.
I Love to photograph a beach wedding in Bournemouth, Poole and even Sandbanks. I am looking forward to Helen and Phil’s wedding at the Sandbanks Hotel. One thing with wedding photography is that many people aren’t comfortable in front of the camera – this is why I like doing pre-wedding or engagement shoots to help people feel more relaxed in front of the camera. This means on the wedding day you get more relaxed photos and happier people.. Win win I say 🙂
We did some in the studio, and also some around blandford too. As well as my awesome Canon cameras I also took a few with my Fuji Instax 100 camera for fun!
Here’s one from the studio, this shows that even if the weather is poor on your wedding you can still get great photos inside as I know how to light 🙂
Enjoy!

Winter Wedding at the Victorian Barn – Jenna and Matt – sneak peek
It was great to be back at the Victorian barn for a wonderful wedding between Matt and Jenna. As always the barn looked amazing and Penny and the team had done a great job. It was also a pleasure to work with the rest of the suppliers there, the wonderful saxophonist, great caterers who looked after me and also the amazing bar staff too. A truly magical day and a great honour to be along for the photographic ride.
Matt and Jenna made my job so easy, they even braved the brisk sunny crisp outdoors to get some amazing portraits outside in the stunning surroundings. I had such a great time and everyone was so great throughout the day! There were also some awesome twinkly lights too, I love how the barn looks at this time of year, just before spring hits you get a wonderful light. Although I can see how people might like warmer weather too 🙂
There was such a buzz from the moment Jenna and her gorgeous bridesmaids were getting ready through to the ceremony where you could feel the love and emotion throughout. There may have been a few tears too! The food was amazing as always and the speeches great too. Everyone had a great time and the band and dancing in the evening were pretty amazing too! Everyone enjoyed the dancing and it made for some crazy dance photos which I can’t wait to share in time!
