Highclere castle – Berkshire Wedding photography – Steve and Marie

Highclere castle Berkshire Wedding photography – Steve and Marie

Sometimes there are weddings where it’s going to be hard not to get awesome wedding photographs. The Location in Berkshire of a Downton Abbey wedding of Steve and Marie at Highclere castle lived up to it’s billing, there was even some (not so welcome drama later on in the proceedings of which we will get to later after the getting ready photographs. The bridal preparations of Marie were fantastic and I love capturing this part of the day. It’s a true honour to be able to tell the story of the day as it unfolds. Here we have the spectacular dress, the rings and the flip flops. What a great idea and antidote to all the uncomfortable shoes that people wear to weddings (I wear very comfortable wedding photographer shoes as it happens though 🙂 ).

The flowers and Kurt Geiger Shoes were pretty special too 🙂

The wedding was full of great little details such as these little flower cups in the wedding breakfast room that I saw as I was wondering around 🙂

There wasn’t much time to waste though before the groom of this wedding – lets call him Steve (as it’s his name) was here and greeting his guests to this amazing wedding venue.

Then before we knew it – then it was wedding time (showtime!).
The bridesmaids all looks stunning and were escorted by the ushers and best man. The light is truly lovely in this castle and makes a great setting for any hampshire based wedding!
We then got our first look at Marie (our beautiful bride for the day).

So down the winding staircase at Highclere castle Marie – goes and you can plainly see a proud and delighted father at the bottom of the stairs and his reaction speaks volumes. He’s one proud father!

You can the pride on his face as he brings her down the aisle. And Steve is clearly a very happy and lucky man! On with the wedding ring – ancient symbol of marriage and an unending circle fulled with er… symbolism!

Now we have some happy bridesmaids, a proud grandparent with the latest in kodak technology (though what will happen now this giant is no longer with us?)

Now I steal Marie and Steve away for some portraits. This is always a fun bit of the wedding photography proceedings and allows some time for the happy couple to get a brief confab before heading back into the throng once more. It’s good that there is a handy castle for the background eh?

and some delicous food (mini burgers and chips no less!)

Now for those that follow my blog – you will rarely see posed wedding group photographs (though i do take them when prompted/threatened/asked) – but – I just liked these ones – what with the juxtaposition of the windows and the groomsmen (I just think it looked nice and have no idea what i just said).

Similarly for the beautiful bride and bridesmaids, the inside was just too good an opportunity to miss. In my head I was on a full on vanity fair shoot – in reality i was rammed into the fireplace 🙂

It was nearly dinner time… and this is the place for the bride and groom 🙂

and just one more thing… a quick photo in the room with Steve and Marie to show the room before the guests all entered.

Steve and Marie did a great job of bringing in their guests, upon which Marie posed for a photograph we’d planned beforehand and it came out not too bad i don’t think 🙂

As well and Steve and Marie’s wedding day it was also another special persons birthday… bonus points if you can guess who and why…..

and finally we finish with the first dance and general festivities…

…though these had a slight tinge of sadness to them as Steve’s dad collapsed during the wedding breakfast, which we very worry for everyone (especially Steve as you can imagine!). Luckily it turned out to be an allergic reaction to the seafood in the starter, so everything was ok in the end.

We’ll end with a video of Steve and Marie’s first dance… something I’m getting asked to do more and more…

Many Thanks to Howard Lucas for assisting me on the day too! Thanks H!

Crown Hotel Blandford Forum Dorset

The Crown Hotel in Blandford Forum is both my Local Hotel and my closest wedding venue in Dorset. I have a photographic studio based in Blandford called Blandford Studios, so this means it’s just down the studio from me.
There are 2 great wedding Coordinators, Francesca and Zena, who will be able to guide you through your day. You can get married in the Sealy suite and have your reception there or there is also a brilliant Oak Room that caters for smaller weddings too.

Here is a photograph from inside the main hotel.

Lulworth Castle Dorset

Lulworth Castle Weddings Dorset

Lulworth Castle is a stunning venue for your wedding in Dorset. Lulworth Cove is nearby and it is somewhere you can have your whole wedding there. It is really close to the Jurassic coast which is another great area of Dorset.

I have photographed numerous weddings at Lulworth castle now and can heartily recommend speaking to them about your wedding and if you are getting married there I would love to speak to you about your photography too! No matter if it’s Winter or Summer the venue looks fantastic and the staff look after you so well. If it’s summer you can play games on the lawn and run around enjoying the scenery. If the weather is less good there is plenty of room inside and you can take a look around the castle enjoying the splendour from inside. I’ve included a few pictures from weddings I’ve photographed at Lulworth Castle but you can also view some complete weddings I have photographed by clicking on the links below that will take you to the relevant pages so you can get a better idea of my work.
