Where to Stay
There are lots of hotels and inns nearby, but here are a few suggestions of good places to stay:
The Potters Heron, Ampfield
This is a local pub/restaurant/hotel and is the closest to both venues, with rooms c.£115. With the right shoes and weather, it’s possible to walk to both the Church and to/from the Reception

The White Horse, Romsey
This is a nice, mid-size hotel in Romsey centre, a short drive/taxi ride from the wedding.

The Kings Head, Hursley
There are also a few rooms at this local pub, again a short drive/taxi ride from the wedding.

How to get there

Our wedding ceremony will take place at St Mark’s Church, Ampfield. We’ll then have our wedding reception on our fields at the end of Hookwood Lane.

Parking at St Mark’s Church
The Church car park is quite small, but it’s possible for people to park in nearby roads and walk up. We’ll add some suggestions for nearby roads nearer the time.

Getting to the Church by road, from junction 12 of the M3:
At the roundabout, take the first exit, then drive over a mini-roundabout at the top of Otterbourne Hill. Then, take the second exit at the next roundabout into Hocombe Road. Drive to the end of Hocombe Road and straight over a crossroads into Hook Road. Drive all the way to the end of Hook Road (you will drive past the turning for our house – Hookwood Lane) and then turn left at the end onto Romsey Road A3090. The Church is on the right of this road after about half a mile.

Getting to the Church from the Potters Heron
The Potters Heron is on the corner of Hook Road and Romsey Road A3090. From the car park, turn left onto Romsey Road and the Church is on the right of this road after about half a mile.

Getting to the Church from The White Horse, Romsey
From the White Horse, turn left on to The Hundred (B3398), then continue on to Winchester Road which then becomes Romsey Road (A3090). The Church is on the left of this road after about four miles.

Getting to the Church from The Kings Head, Hursley
From The Kings Head, turn left on to the A3090. Continue along this road for about 2 miles and the Church is on the right of this road.

Getting to the Church by Train:
Trains run from London to Winchester station around three times per hour and take approx. 60 mins. There are usually taxis outside the station, or you can pre-order using the taxi numbers below.

Getting to the Reception from the Church
From St Mark’s Church, turn left onto Romsey Road/Winchester Road (A3090). When you see the Potters Heron on the right, turn right onto Hook Road. Hookwood Lane is on the right of this road after less than half a mile. It’s the first turning, as the road bends around. Drive straight down Hookwood Lane (an unmade road) and past Woodlea Way, then at the end turn right onto an unmade road. The reception and car parking will be at the end of this road.

The Wedding Day – 11th July 2015

The wedding will start at 2.30pm with a ceremony at St Mark’s Church. There will be three hymns – Jerusalem, Lord of all Hopefulness and A New Commandment – so get practicing!
We’ll then have the reception on our fields at the end of Hookwood Lane. There will be space for car parking.
There will be a three-course meal, with a choice of main course so please let us know which of the options you prefer and if you have any allergies/other dietary requirements when you RSVP.
We’ll then party the night away with a band/dj playing in the evening and there will also be a hog roast.
The party will finish at 12.30am.

The Next Day – 12th July 2015

We would like to invite our guests to join us again on the Sunday from 11.30am at the marquee, where we will be having a BBQ and playing some games (weather-permitting). Food and drinks will be provided.
Please let us know whether you plan to come back on Sunday when you send your RSVP for the wedding day.

For our honeymoon we have booked a trip to the Maldives for 12 nights. We can’t wait, and there are lots of fantastic experiences that we can have while we are there.
The most important gift to us is to have you share our wedding day with us. But should you wish to contribute in some other way then a contribution to an experience on our honeymoon would be very gratefully received.
Here are a few of the honeymoon experiences that we’d love to do when we’re away that you might like to contribute to:

  • Private dinner on a secluded island
  • Sunset cruise
  • Cocktails in the Fen Bar
  • Snorkeling & diving excursions
  • Sunset fishing trip
  • Dolphin discovery trip
  • Couples massage and spa treatment
  • Champagne breakfast in the lagoon
  • Kayaking
  • Windsurfing

If you would like to read more about the different activities you can help us to enjoy, or to suggest something else for us to try, please visit the resort website at the link below:

If you would like to make a contribution, we would happily receive either a cheque made payable to Mr Richard D McLeod, or a bank transfer payment (Mr Richard D McLeod, Nationwide Building Society, Account Number 25752107: Sort Code 07 02 46).
Thanks for visiting, and we can’t wait to see you on our big day!

Rich and Emma xxx
